Thomas Beale
Visual Arts Residency

Thomas Beale is a sculptor and the founder/director of Honey Space (2008-2012). A graduate of Dartmouth College, he has been working with found wood and other natural materials intensively since 1999, not counting those forts he built in his youth in the 1980′s and ’90′s, and that time he took apart his sister’s guitar in high school. Beyond his sculpture practice, he has spent time working for a furniture maker, studied traditional Japanese architecture with the support of an NEA grant, and become self-taught in all kinds of building practices while running Honey Space, a radical, shape-shifting no-profit exhibition space that he founded and operated in Chelsea from 2008-2012. He has shown his work extensively, and curated numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.
