Nate Kinsella
Music Residency
Nate Kinsella is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer, and producer. As a solo artist under the moniker Birthmark, he makes rhythmically complex, genre-bending music that blurs the boundaries between pop and avant-garde. Kinsella cultivates the uncanny in his work with inconspicuously complex polyrhythms and electro-acoustic layering. He has written scores for film and television, published a book of tablature, and toured extensively in the US and abroad for more than 20 years, performing at festivals such as Reading and Leeds, Pitchfork Music, Primavera Sound, and Fuji Rock. He has released four albums as Birthmark and is a contributing member of American Football, Joan of Arc, and Make Believe.
