Bradley Pitts
Visual Arts Residency

Bradley Pitts is a Brooklyn-based artist whose practice is born from his background in art, architecture, and aerospace engineering. Aiming to illuminate possibilities that lie outside a traditional technical framework, he uses minimal interventions and the repurposing or “misuse” of technology to reframe ideas about what we consider functional, valuable, and/or real. In engaging with these multifaceted concepts – which he sees as cornerstones of globalized culture – he seeks to inspire dialog about the structures and value systems that mediate our world views. Trained at MIT, NASA and the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (NL), Pitts has recently worked with the Dutch Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences (NL), the Pic du Midi Observatory (FR), the European Space Agency, and the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (RU). He has shown at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (FR), the Netherlands Institute for Media Art (NL) Kunsthalle Bern (CH), and the University of California, Riverside (US).
