Alexandria Smith

Visual Arts Residency

Alexandria Smith is a mixed media visual artist based in New York City, NY and Boston, MA. Smith is the recipient of numerous awards and residencies including the MacDowell Colony, Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Yaddo, LMCC Process Space Residency, a Pollock-Krasner Grant, the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture Fellowship, the Virginia A. Myers Fellowship at the University of Iowa, and the Fine Arts Work Center Fellowship. She was also a co-organizer of the collective, Black Women Artists for Black Lives Matter. Her work has recently been included in solo and group exhibitions include at Boston University, Boston, MA; the Union for Contemporary Art, Omaha, NE; Yale University, New Haven, CT; International Print Center, New York, NY; USF Contemporary Art Museum, Tampa, FL; and Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT, and commissioned by the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. She earned her BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University, MA in Art Education from New York University, and MFA in Painting and Drawing from Parsons The New School for Design.
