Alex Berke
Technology Residency

Alex Berke is from Cambridge Massachusetts and has degrees in mathematics and computer science from Brown University.  As a technologist in New York she has specialized in architecting and building technology from scratch that scales.  Her work has ranged from creating voter protection bots and data infrastructure for the Hillary For America campaign, to programming phone networks in Erlang.  She is a civic hacker and former fellow of Blue Ridge Labs, where she developed technology tools for underprivileged Americans, and was previously the lead engineer at Huffpost Labs, where she designed and built experimental tools for journalists.

As a technology resident at Pioneer Works, Alex will create an open source coloring book.  It will exist both on paper and as interactive online content and will teach its audience the fundamentals of group theory as they read, play, or color.
