The NY Theremin Society Orchestra Concert

This month, Pioneer Works welcomes the NY Theremin Society in residence. Founded by musician-composers Dorit Chrysler (who just premiered a commissioned soundtrack at MoMA on February 27) and Suzanne Fiol, the NY Theremin Society launched its concert series in 2006, bringing together skilled Theremin interpreters. For those of you who aren’t in the know, the Theremin is an electronic musical instrument controlled by the position of the player’s hands. Its spooky psychedelic frequencies have been used for everything from Hawkwind’s space-rock to the score for “The Day the Earth Stood Still”.

CONCERT – SATURDAY MARCH 29 8PM
On Saturday March 29, the NY Theremin Society Orchestra will perform at Pioneer Works, bringing together skilled Theremin interpreters, who present their solo works before joining in an experimental Theremin Orchestra jam.
