Supper Club with Grandchamps
Supper Club is a regular dinner series created to celebrate local chefs and serve as a community gathering. Hosted in the building’s Main Hall or Garden, each edition of the Supper Club invites chefs to create an original dining experience. This month’s Supper Club is a celebration of Haitian culture with Grandchamps in honor of our exhibition PÒTOPRENS: The Urban Artists of Port-au-Prince.
Grandchamps, co-founded by husband-and-wife duo Shawn and Sabrina Brockman in 2015, celebrates Haitian culture through homestyle cooking that is inspired by recipes passed down by Sabrina’s mother Françoise Grandchamps, those of rustic kitchens in Haiti, and still others that stem from Shawn’s experiences. Located in Bed-stuy, Brooklyn, the restaurant is a product of the Brockmans’ shared life, filled with fond memories and conversations shared over soul warming Haitian meals. Shawn, a chef with 15-plus years of experience in the culinary industry, has utilized his platform to not only harness the essence of country’s cuisine but to also focus on job training for those in search of new skills for the culinary and hospitality industries. Grandchamps has been lauded by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Caribbean Life, and The Village Voice, among many others. The duo is currently working on a forthcoming second restaurant in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
