Second Sundays: August 2026

Since 2013, Pioneer Works has hosted Second Sundays, a free monthly open house. Highlighting our programs, artists-in-residence, and Red Hook community members, Second Sundays features open studios, exhibitions, workshops, live music, and food—with programming across all three floors and in our garden.

On August Second Sundays, join us in celebrating the release of the Director of Publishing and Broadcast co-editor-in-chief, Joshua Jelly-Schapiro's new book: Daylight Come: Harry Belafonte and The World He Made. Throughout the day, we'll host a conversation between Jelly-Schapiro and Doreen St. Félix on the life and legacy of the late Jamaican calypso singer, actor, and activist, a book signing, and a performance from the Unison Steelband. Sunday also marks the closing day of our summer exhibitions: ANIMAL[a listening gym], Bases Loaded, and Office of War Information (O.W.I.).

Food and drink provided by Renae Wilson of Dear Henry, La New Yorkina, and Pioneer Works Bar. Read on below to see the full schedule of events.
