Figuring: Maria Popova in Conversation with Elizabeth Gilbert

Pioneer Works presents Maria Popova in conversation with Elizabeth Gilbert to celebrate the publication of Figuring.

Tickets are priced at $29—the number of chapters in the book—with all proceeds benefiting Pioneer Works’ endeavor to build New York City’s first public observatory. Signed copies by both authors will be available, as will a special limited edition of 50 signed, numbered copies of Figuring made exclusively for Pioneer Works, also benefitting the observatory.

Elizabeth Gilbert is the bestselling author of eight works of fiction and non-fiction, including Eat Pray Love, The Signature of All Things, and Big Magic. She has been a finalist for The National Book Award, The National Book Critic’s Circle Award, The Pen-Hemingway Award, and several National Magazine Awards. Her new novel City of Girls will be published in June, 2019

Maria Popova is a reader and a writer, and writes about what she reads on Brain Pickings, which is included in the Library of Congress permanent digital archive of culturally valuable materials. She grew up in Bulgaria immersed in music and mathematics, and hosts The Universe in Verse—an annual celebration of science through poetry—at Pioneer Works.
