Community Lunch: Jam'It Bistro

Join Pioneer Works for a nourishing meal of locally-grown foods, featuring local chefs engaged in building community around wellness. This month’s lunch is by Jam'It Bistro.

Bring your own blanket or chair and enjoy a meal under the shade of Coffey Park’s tree canopy. Meals include vegetarian options, served with a beverage and a dessert.

First come, first served. Social distancing will be practiced, and this event will adhere to CDC guidelines as they are updated.

Dawn Skeete, Chef and owner of Jam’It Bistro, prepares authentic dishes that are true to her heritage. Her food is not just delicious but aims to be playful and fun to eat.  Dawn was born in Jamaica but raised in Brooklyn, and fuses Caribbean cuisine with American and Italian favorites. For three years she taught cooking workshops for EmblemHealth in Brooklyn, where attendees learned how to cook healthy meals using Caribbean spices while adhering to strict medical nutrition guidelines.

Dawn continues to adapt these healthy options into her menu offerings, and most recently was hired to serve meals to nearby health and hospital workers—who now have standing orders for their lunches and dinners. Jam’It Bistro works with vendors to bring the best of their crop each day, offering fresh, nutritious, and tasty dishes, all topped with Dawn’s specialized jerk seasoning.

Community and School Programs at Pioneer Works are made possible, in part, by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
