Position Description

The FB&R Supervisor oversees all food service and bar operations for Pioneer Works’ public programs and select private events. This role also maintains a key connection to the PW Store and front desk through development of customer service protocol and store presence at events. Working in close collaboration with the Director and Associate Director of Events and other programming staff, the FB&R Supervisor ensures the bar and other points of sale are stocked, staffed and set up to serve the needs of each unique program: finalizing menus / signage, ordering and tracking inventory, running sales reports, scheduling and managing staff, and tracking food and beverage related expenses.

Responsibilities

Inventory

  • Communicate with the programming teams to understand food service and bar inventory needs for upcoming events
  • Maintain a regular inventory count and order product based on projected needs
  • Receive and shelve product deliveries
  • Develop relationships with local breweries, wineries, and distributors to expand the bar menu
  • Work with the Director of Events and Publishing Dept to maintain storage needs for Bar and PW Store alongside each other and with limited available space.

Permitting

  • Coordinate with the Director of Events to ensure all beer & wine permits are pulled and approved prior to events

Staffing

  • Schedule and supervise bar staff
  • Train bar staff on bar operations, including POS systems
  • Approve bar staff time cards in payroll system
  • Coordinate with 3rd party catering services

Administration

  • Design bar and store offerings based on audience and attendance
  • Weekly processing of invoices from several vendors
  • Maintain existing FBR equipment and identify upcoming equipment/infrastructure upgrades
  • Run sales reports, including calculated profit margins

On-Site Management

  • Work with Director of Events to ensure bar and store placement meets safety requirements
  • Oversee cash drawers & cash counts
  • Occasionally assist with the set up of and supervision of Artist Greenroom and Artist Merchandise
  • Oversee bar operations and team before, during and after events
    • Receive product deliveries
    • Assign duties to bar staff
    • Troubleshoot technical issues with POS equipment
    • Respond to customer questions and concerns
    • Ensure cash drawers are stocked with the appropriate change at all times
    • Set a standard of cleanliness and organization for all spaces post-event

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience working in the service industry or related field
  • Positive, solution-oriented attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work nights and weekends; scheduling varies depending on a busy and dynamic program calendar
  • Licensed fire guard*
  • First aid training*

*can be completed through PW following on-boarding if necessary

Compensation

$65,000/year, with benefits
