Director of Advancement

The Director of Advancement will be a motivated, engaging leader of the development team and within Pioneer Works as a whole. They will partner with the Executive Director, senior staff, and the 21-member board of trustees to formulate a comprehensive fundraising strategy, manage fundraising for an ambitious capital campaign, develop and find innovative ways to grow annual contributed revenue, and manage a stewardship plan for existing donors. There is opportunity to build and reimagine the now five person development department; PW welcomes energy and innovation in every discipline – including fundraising.

The Director will be an experienced professional with both frontline and operational experience, able to speak persuasively about Pioneer Works’ mission and invite others into the organization’s unique story. They should feel comfortable making data-driven decisions, bringing an intelligent, critical eye to past fundraising efforts and, when needed, to advocate for new directions and projects.

The successful Director will be an excellent manager with the ability to set ambitious goals and ensure the development team has the training, tools, and support to meet them. Pioneer Works is in a moment of evolution and growth; the ideal candidate will have the ability to work at a strategic organizational level, helping to set the organization’s future direction and raise funds to support it.

An organizational goal, and opportunity for the Director, is to increase the earned income pipeline through strategic developments to the retail department, additional ticketed concerts in the evenings, bolstering the membership and space rental programs, and establishing an income model for our visual magazine, Pioneer Works Broadcast.
