Ideas in Animation
In this six week course, 2nd-5th grade students will be introduced to an array of animation techniques, from its origins in optical toys to contemporary digital renderings. This introductory workshop invites students to incorporate local and global themes to create a summer vacation of their dreams. Using their own lived experiences of the neighborhood and their knowledge of world history, students will create their own animations, experiment with a wide variety of mediums, and develop the skills needed to bring about their unique visions.
This workshop is structured on weekly exercises that will expand students’ cognitive skills through group, partnered, and independent activities. Projects are designed to develop teamwork, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills, and ultimately serve to broaden students’ critical thinking abilities.
