Comics as Healing: A Safe Place to Work Through the Unrest

This workshop has been rescheduled to August 20, 2020.

Between quarantine, COVID-19, and the violent racist history of this country coming to a head, the world can feel incredibly overwhelming. By using comics as a method of journaling, illustrator Bianca Xunise will help take these dark clouds that loom over us and turn them into art in this online workshop. This method will not only work as a therapeutic reflection but a release of the pressure that exists in our minds. Comics as a form of healing is a practice you can use regularly throughout the tougher days of your life, or even to document the happy moments, too.

Date: This one-time online workshop meets on Tuesday, August 20 from 7:00-8:00PM ET.

Price: $10 (This fee will be split equally between Pioneer Works and our community partners.)

Audience: Open to all.

Materials: Participants will need a computer/phone with internet access, paper, and drawing utensils.

Bianca Xunise is an illustrator based out of Chicago, Il. When she’s not doodling her feelings, she’s probably somewhere eating donuts or dancing to Bauhaus.

Please note, this online workshop will begin promptly at the listed start time. In order to ensure the quality of instruction for all participants, late entry will not be permitted.
