Lisa Fairstein, Loud Frames
Host Jake Nussbaum sits down with Pioneer Works’ 2016 photo resident Lisa Fairstein during the Second Sundays festivities at Pioneer Works, the monthly series of open studios, live music, and site-specific interventions held at the Red Hook space. Fairstein discusses image manipulation and the media today –exploring the banal, the accidental, the mundane, and the objectifying through her work.
Lisa Fairstein is an artist living in New York, constructing image-based works that mix a complicated embrace of contemporary image culture with a consideration of hyper-established tropes of photographic looking. The work engages the process of making pictures and stands as a consideration of, as well as a contribution to, a society obsessed with the image of an image.
Born in New York, Lisa received her Masters of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts.
